As socialists, we understand that the working class is composed of all races and ethnicities. However, in a society that gives priority to and disproportionately empowers its white members, those who fall into the category of non-white are often disenfranchised through biased legislation, poor public resource management, and suppression of our voices in the national narrative. For this reason, it is not enough for socialists to passively refrain from the exclusion practiced in our wider community but foster active inclusion within our section of that community.
The Vegas DSA AFROSOC Section seeks to carve and promote a space within the socialist movement for people of color. We seek to educate on the struggles, revolutions, and thought produced by POC communities in days past and organize within POC communities in the current day. We seek to empower people of color to join us as socialists of color and help coordinate organizing throughout the chapter’s work.
