- Hebron
- Meal train worked much better than expected, got non members involved and should be used in the future
- Anthony – Kathleen did a great job, relational organizing with small specific asks is important to get people involved
- Tiffany – notes that meal train specifically worked really well
- Kathleen – intended goal was to find members of community who are interested in order to get them involved and take pressure off our members to provide food, this is a model that worked and we should stick to, community signal has been made and more people are joining, meal train could also reduce the costs for the chapter by getting more people to donate food and provide labor
- Casey – notes that meal train pro is $15 per month, which MAWG has the budget for
- Anthony – this is a great model for the chapter to build leadership, we need to get this ready to replicate for future needs like ICE action, Kathleen should give a presentation on this work and what we learned at GBM, this work is what the MAWG should have always been doing
- Sunsol Medic proposal
- Electoral Updates
- Tiffany – we are consistently falling behind on canvassers, Assembly Caucus has now begun canvassing and we need to compete, we are working on training new canvass leads to increase capacity, there will be a March Madness competition event to increase turnout, National wants us to send 15 volunteers to their phonebanks
- Sophie – suggests giving out life size Shaun cutouts as prizes
- Tiffany – At some point in April there will be a fundraiser, this and an event in May are being planned, campaign leadership is at capacity which makes planning difficult, everyone is watching our campaigns and it is important that we win
- Anthony – Assembly Dems are specifically focused on our two races, we need to blast that to our members
- Office Space Fundraiser Updates
- Sophie – Currently about $500/month raised, with the grant we would be about 25% of the way to the goal, direct asks have been very successful at getting people to donate and we need to put work into that, having a presentation at GBM could be helpful to get members excited
- May Day
- Anthony – We are hosting a Solidarity School (part of May Day Strong coalition), designed as a mini Labor Notes, 5 hour presentation with lunch included
- Potential other partners are Indivisible and Arriba Workers Center
- Culinary Union may let us use their space, United Brothel Workers has limited capacity but may virtually attend and provide lit
- We will be sending an invite to every union, most of them likely will not say yes
- Partners would be given time during breaks to put focus on their work and how it relates to the presentations/panels
- This isn’t meant to be advertised to train rank and file union members, this is focused on newly activated people/orgs who are looking for work, we can be the bridge between labor unions and nonprofit community orgs
- Room has capacity for 100, we are capping at 75 to give room for tables and to be able to afford food
- LVWOC budget won’t be sufficient to afford all of the food for attendants
- We need to use our connections to unions to get them involved, look for opportunities for a larger venue
- First Friday Tabling
- Sophie – Pravda has booked Hola Habibi at 7PM to do an event, looking to do exhibits from orgs about different topics, VFP and PRF have been invited
- Anthony – we should ask LVWOC folks to table
- Brian – Mutual Aid should also be involved as it would be a good opportunity to recruit (Juni and Jordy are great options)
- Sophie motions to participate in Pravda’s First Friday event
- Anthony seconds
- Passes unanimously
- Anthony – We are hosting a Solidarity School (part of May Day Strong coalition), designed as a mini Labor Notes, 5 hour presentation with lunch included
- National Required Changes
- Tiffany – worked with Walker to get Hex working, Hex is laggy, can’t share a login like we do for Periscope, we need to vote on who will be given access, people with access to main email will already have access, Sarah and Gigi should be given access
- Anthony motions to give Sarah and Gigi access to Hex
- Tiffany seconds
- Passes unanimously
- Anthony motions to rearrange agenda to put Executive Session after National Required Changes
- Casey seconds
- Passes unanimously
- Meeting adjourned following executive session
