  • Explanation of the Office Space Grant
  • Explanation of why we are voting on the fundraising plan
    • We need to raise about $55,000
    • Application due in 3 days
    • 4-step plan for fundraising
      • 1st: Members
      • 2nd: supporters
      • 3rd: external
      • 4th: ongoing support (next year)
  • Question: How much research has been done to get this cost?
    • Committee has been working for at least two months on research
  • Question: Have we looked at an actual space yet?
    • No
    • We’ve used existing examples like PLAN, Dem offices, RSCC
  • Question: What happens to storage space?
    • We would allocate the money for storage to the office space instead
  • Question: What are the use cases for the space?
    • Storage
    • Host events
    • Host meetings
    • Fundraisers
    • Education
    • Mutual Aid
    • Coworking stations
  • Debate open
    • In favor: Third spaces are necessary, every social/event/etc needs money
    • Opposed: We should get an office space, but the timeline is directly overlapping with endorsed candidates fundraising
      • Candidates want $20,000 each
      • In actuality: we’re asking for about $80,000 in a similar timeframe
  • POI: Are we just voting on the fundraising plan?
    • Yes
  • POI: can we still get a grant without a fundraising plan?
    • No
  • POI: when we ask people to donate, will it be for specifically an office space?
    • Yes

    • There is no guarantee it will be back

    • In favor: the chapter has shown very positive attitudes towards both this and
    • Opposed: Chapter has other priorities that might want to be focused on
  • POI: if we pass it and we don’t meet it, do we get our money back?
    • The chapter can democratically vote on what we do with the money
    • It will not be refunded, gets absorbed into the chapter
  • POI: is this an annual fundraiser?
    • The plan listed is not annual due to upfront cost, but we do need to raise it every year
  • In favor:
    • Although it is true it will negatively impact other work, we can activate more
      • More frequent mutual aid
      • More recruitment
      • Will be a boon to all future projects
  • Opposed:
    • We could use this fundraising plans for candidates instead
    • This needs to be an electoral focused time
