2023 LVDSA Annual Convention

All LVDSA members who are members in good standing for 30 days before the convention may attend the local convention as a delegate. Only delegates may vote and introduce resolutions at the local convention.

To participate in the convention, please make sure your dues are up to date by June 8th 2023.

You may fill out a dues waiver if you are facing financial hardship.

During convention, we will elect a Steering Committee comprised of 9 voting members of LVDSA containing no more than six cis-men and containing at least three people who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color.

Candidates will run for one of the following positions:

• Co-Chairs (2)
• Treasurer
• Secretary
• Communications Coordinator
• Member Engagement and Onboarding Coordinator
• Political Education Coordinator
• Campaign and Organizer Coordinator (2)

Nominations for Steering Committee have closed. Below is the list of candidates.

Candidates answered a candidate questionnaire distributed to members via email ahead of the election. They will also participate in a Steering Committee & HGO Candidate Town Hall on June 29th @ 7pm.

During convention delegates will elect two members to serve as Harassment Grievance Officers (HGOs).

The following resolutions and bylaw amendments have met the minimum qualifications to be considered at the local convention. Bylaw amendments must pass with a two-thirds vote, while all other resolutions must pass with a simple majority vote.

• Strike Ready Strategic Campaign
• Resolution Censuring LVDSA Member and Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom for a Bloated Police Budget, Enabling Routine Police Violence
• Proposed 2023-2024 Chapter Budget

Local coalition partners can purchase ads and members can purchase solidarity messages to be included in our convention program. All submissions will be subject to approval by the convention team and any submitted ads that advocate for or against any member, convention proposal, amendment, Steering Committee candidate or slate will not be accepted.

At this year’s convention, we are going to be giving away more than 2 dozen raffle prizes throughout the day including a dozen 11×14 framed leftist prints, a dozen zines of foundational leftists texts, LVDSA mercy gift cards, and more! You must be present (either in-person or on Zoom) during the convention to claim your prize!
