Reading Group: Parable of the Sower

We will be reading and discussing an outstanding work of speculative fiction, Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler. Set in a post-apocalyptic US heavily affected by climate change, capitalism and social inequality, the novel follows Lauren Olamina, a young woman who can feel the pain of others and becomes displaced from her home. It is available for free as an e-book on Libby through the Las Vegas-Clark County and Henderson Libraries. Content warning: this book contains potentially disturbing references to violence and sexual assault.
