Painting the Town Red: Building Socialist Power Through Municipal Elections
Join us for a special night with 3 of DSA’s most exciting endorsed candidates!
While NYC, Chicago, and San Francisco get lots of well-deserved news for their big electoral wins throughout years or organizing, on Wednesday, October 20, we’re taking a closer look at 3 cities often overlooked when we hear about Democratic Socialists competing in elections. A teacher, a labor organizer, and a service industry vet talk about organizing locally and their campaigns to local office demanding a living wage, housing for all, and the funding of essential services.
The evening will be facilitated by Megan Romer, of Southwest Louisiana DSA, featuring: Richie Floyd, a grade school teacher, running for St Pete City Council; Joel Brooks, a labor organizer, running for Jersey City Council; &
Evan Holt, a long time service industry worker, running for Cincinnati City Council. A Q&A will follow this event.
