Walled World: A Discussion with Reece Jones

Join us for a discussion on border regimes and immigration enforcement with political geographer and Guggenheim Fellow Reece Jones. Jones is a professor of geography at University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and the award-winning author of several books.

As part of LVDSA’s Abolish ICE campaign, we have been studying the political and economic functions of domestic and global border regimes and ICE. This discussion with Reece Jones will follow the conclusion of our reading group on Border and Rule by Harsha Walia, which explores similar questions. This is a great opportunity for attendees to hear a world-class expert share their insights on borders and the role they play in our capitalist and racialized world. In a world divided by border walls that tear the international working class apart, and in a country where ICE terrorizes communities, it is crucial that we develop a radical analysis of border regimes and immigration enforcement.
